I’m trying to spread out my travelblog as much as I can because we took so many pictures! However, here are the last three posts
– Grand Canyon trip
– Rafting in Page, AZ
– Zion National Park visit
It took a solid two days of driving to reach Yellowstone so for the first day we just cruised through Utah. We stopped somewhere to stretch our legs and make lunch in the RV. Despite the kids getting restless on the 2nd day of driving earlier on in the trip, they had a grand old time once they got into the swing of things. They piled all the pillows in the bed and made that their cozy spot. Their iPads lasted for about 5 to 6 hours and when those gave out, we either badgered J to turn on the generator so we could charge… or they used my iPad as I had more movies on there. A few times they bugged Sharon to play games with them (she offered, such a sweet Grandma!) but that was few and far between. Since they hardly ever get their iPads they were making the most of it during the trip.
We made it through Salt Lake City and the hubby said he wanted to keep driving. He had his eye on Heber City which was about 45 minutes past Salt Lake City on the 189 but when we got to Heber City the RV park he had written down wasn’t the picturesque place we thought it would be. It was right behind an airport. I looked up on the map and saw a few cities farther on, so we kept driving!
* We actually drove up the 89 instead of the 15 as we wanted the better view! It was worth it!Since we were pretty far north (compared to what we were used to), it wasn’t getting dark until 9pm or 10pm. So we found Phillips RV Park in Evanston, WY and pulled in there.
We were SO happy with this place! Beautiful setting with a kids playground smack in the middle. The showers were super high powered but very clean and nice. Sam immediately made a friend with a traveling family next door and she and Prestely played for an hour on the swings. We made dinner and then went to bed.
In the morning, we pulled out and headed toward Jackson Hole.
Twelve years ago, we did this RV trip with friends and we went past Salt Lake City and then headed to the right and stayed the night at Bear Lake, ID. We had such great memories of the place. Coming over the hill and looking at the beautiful lake that J wanted to drive past it again. So we took a thirty minute detour and went around the lake. It’s the blue blob about 1/4th of the way up the line.
It was just as pretty as we remembered it. We didn’t stop anywhere, we just drove through. I’m sure it looks a lot different during winter but summer is gorgeous here.
After we went around Bear Lake, the scenery was just amazing. These beautiful rolling hills with a brook winding it’s way through them. We passed over the brook/creek so many times.
I just wanted to pick up my house and set it down on one of these hills so I can have the view. I think it was protected area though.
I was also wondering if maybe they filmed Sound of Music here. haha 🙂 Seriously gorgeous!
It’s not Wyoming if you don’t see an Elk Arch!
We then arrived at Jackson Hole! I LOVE that town. That’s another place I need to go and just spent a few days there enjoying. I’ll start a new post for that one, along with our arrival into Yellowstone and what amazing animal we saw first at the side of the road!
