I snuck out tonight and got my hairs did. It was time and I also decided to make a small change. I looked at this picture of my Mom and I at Nichol’s recent wedding, and I thought how BEAUTIFUL she looked with her warm, honey brown hair. She actually has touches of reds in it.
Then, I looked at mine and went ‘bleah!’ I look washed out! Now that it’s no longer summer and I’m not tan… Okay, I haven’t been tan in a really long time… I wanted to be that pretty warm honey color though.
* Ugh, why is my iPhone taking such terrible photos? Isn’t it supposed to be a kick ass camera? (I can’t wait to get the 5 for Christmas!)
So there it is. Still really blonde, but I ended up doing a lot of warm low-lights and just bumping the base a bit. It’s definitely not as bleachy blonde, even though the lighting here in the photo is terrible. The bathroom was the best light I could find! I am happy with it. I also chopped off 6 inches or so, that way I didn’t have to wrestle with the tangles.
Sam keeps telling me she wants to cut her hair short. I want to cry because her hair is so beautiful. I don’t want to TELL her that though. “Don’t cut your hair, everyone LOVES your hair!” doesn’t send the best message. So I just hem and haw and say, oh let’s think about that. We wouldn’t be able to do braids with short hair.
I also wish I could just magically get her hair color.
Next time I’ll do a few darker colors, and maybe some red.
If you want to check out an awesome site, go read Smart Pretty and Awkward. I put it in my Reader after someone recommended it a few weeks ago and I’m loving the short posts with advice each day.
PS. I am thankful for my husband. Tonight, specifically for the fact he can do math homework with Sammie. 🙂
