This and other things that I lie about to my three-year old…
I’ve talked about how we have massive potty training issues with my kids. They are both on a full tablespoon of Miralax. GG is on two teaspoons of mineral oil every day too. Potty training has never been pretty.
Anyway. We are going to Florida next month to visit the big Mouse and Harry Potter. We finally told the kids and they are ridiculously excited about it. Despite never seeing the Harry Potter movie, that is the one thing they are most looking forward to seeing. Awesome!
So with GG still asking for a diaper to poop in every day, I told him that we couldn’t bring diapers to Florida.
So now every day I tell him that I really want to buy his ticket to Florida but he has to poop in the potty first. I’m scared this will go the route of all the other threats that I have thrown his way and I will be claiming that I’m going to leave him in the airport as we pack the car.
I have never managed to figure out what the best route to take with him on this. The doctor and tons of extremely authoritative blogs on the Internet (that was sarcasm, folks) have told us to just let him do his thing and not bother him. However, it bothers ME. Argh. It’s not like we are going to have ‘holding it’ issues, we level so much laxative in his system that it has to come out somehow.
I really want this phase to be done. Where is the magic wand that will make that happen?

Funny girl!! Let him tell you when he’s ready… it’s sooo much easier. 🙂 It worked really really well with Aiden… but then again, I still have 2 boys that I need to potty train… so I’m sure this opinion will change soon as every kid and every situation is different. 🙂 Liam is coming up on the age that Aiden potty trained himself, and I’m not too sure he is as ready as Aiden was. And it IS quite gross to change his diaper after changing Declan’s sweet smelling infant poop. HA!
Good Luck!!! And I really hope you win this battle so you don’t have to leave him home. 🙂 (or have him win the battle at the airport. lol) 🙂
