2nd Half of 2008

Wow, I rock! Four posts in June! 🙂 A new looser blogger record for me, I guess. Maybe it’s cause I was getting, oh, 30 min of computer time for the day and deciding that 930pm is a great bedtime for me since G sometimes gets up at 5am and sometimes he doesn’t. The not knowing is terrible. heehee

Um, I don’t even know what happened in June. It’s all flown by so fast! After Legoland there was Angie’s surprise party for her 30th birthday… That was tons of fun! Father’s Day was very laid back… We’ve been to the water park at Ladera two times which is awesome! That water park is great, I can’t wait for G to be able to sit up and I can sit in the water with him. Right now we are just walking around which is really nice in the hot weather we have lately! My brother graduated high school, I can’t believe it! My Mom had her fun birthday on Sunday where G and I went to hang out with her and her sisters and friends. The Newport Marriott is a beautiful hotel, btw!

Sammie is doing great. I never talked about the evaluation we did for her speech but it was just what I expected. She understands everything, actually to a 3y old level, and on some counts a kindergarten level but her pronunciation is not great. We need to make sure she can be understood 50% of the time by the time she is three. I would say that strangers would be able to understand her 20% of the time right now. In the past month though, the new words she has been saying are really fun! She still doesn’t pronounce them all the way (think syllables – she usually just says the first syllable of the word, or some slurred version of it) but the fact that new words are coming out of her mouth every day is really reassuring. We were walking through the mall today and she said, “March, March!” and I said, oh are we marching? and she said, ‘Yea!’ – Her saying ‘yea!’ or ‘yes!’ all the time now is hysterical. It’s just the way she says it. Also, when we ask her things and she thinks about it, she will tap her finger on her chin as she is pondering the question. hahhaha – I think she got that from Justin although I may do it too.

Now that she is sleeping through the night – since February pretty much!!! – I’m not as military freakish about her naps. Maybe once a week or every other week we will skip it because we are doing fun things. Plus I don’t put her down until 145 or 2pm now because I’m not as worried about it and now she usually goes down ALWAYS every day without playing with any toys because she is tired out! I have noticed that when she doesn’t take her long naps, or about two days after she skips a nap she gets up early. That whole sleep begets sleep thing is so true.

The one bad thing about all the talking is that she has her whiny voice on most of the time which is SO terrible. For instance, J was home for awhile and I told her to tell him something about our day today that we did. And she goes RUNNING up to him and in the whiniest voice EVER said a variation of, ‘we went to the play place at the mall and saw the dogs too’ (it was only three or four words) but WHY would you say that in such a whiny / aggravated voice? Toddlers! So dramatic!

We are also going crazy with the Disney movies. J hates to watch those movies over and over again – I don’t mind, I tune it out and usually use it so *I* can do something else – haha, yes, the electronic babysitter… but anyway, we are getting Aladdin, Cinderella, and Robin Hood from Amazon next week! YES!!! I ADORE Aladdin… and OMG, Robin Hood was my favorite… I want Beauty and the Beast, I need to eBay it or something, I used to watch that movie every day after school, ‘back in the day’. haha

Cute Baby G just goes along with us where ever we go. Along for the ride, sweet Baby G, he is always happiest when he has a face to look at and talk to. I think he is going to be very social. He is very social already but I think I need to make sure more people are social with him because he’s starting to be a little Momma crazy… but oh well. I still haven’t given the poor kid a bottle. I say poor kid, but I really mean poor Momma! I’m gonna be his everything for the next year because I am to lazy to shove a bottle in his mouth. 🙂 It’s so easy with the boob instead…

We took him to the Dr today because he has a nice flat head on his right side. 🙂 He loves to look to his right and hardly ever looks to his left. So weird. He is capable of it but doesn’t like to do it. Oh well. J was freaking a bit about it and wanted me to be sure. My loverly Dr whom I think I have the same personality as (which doesn’t work when I want sweet soothing chatter about how my children are wonderful and give me good ideas) was as blunt and irritating as ever. (And yes, I’m calling myself blunt and irritating too…) “So do you want the helmet?” after briefly looking at his head and not saying anything else. Um, not really, do you think he needs it? Why are you asking if I want it? Of course I don’t want it. Are you telling me to get it? Sheesh.

Ok. I will stop. Honestly. We had a nice conversation about the whole thing though after he was so blunt first. I think he is a great medical Dr, I just hate every conversation with him. I should really switch, I complain about this every time. Ugh. But he really is a great Dr. And the way he talks to my kids is wonderful but the way he talks to me is… irriating. Oh well, it’s not as if I don’t know how to speak up for myself. So, yea… I think G will be fine. I should really take a picture of the back of his head though. 🙂 I don’t really notice it but when you REALLY look at it and feel it, yep it’s there. It will get better once he’s sitting on his own, I’m sure. Otherwise, he will be Cute Helmet Baby G, or some variation of it’s kind, if it doesn’t get better by 9 months. 🙂 But I have heard that type of thing is pretty common. More tummy time, Momma!! Bad Momma!

He giggled, a very light giggle, but a giggle nonetheless yesterday. I was holding him on my lap and Sammie jumped on J’s back and they were dipping really low into his face and ‘roaring’ at him playfully and he was giggling at them.

Well, I was giggling at them too, it looked like a two-headed monster to me….

Tomorrow AND Thursday Sam is off with a different Grandma and then it’s 4th of July!!! Swimming and BBQ in the morning, parade in the afternoon, fireworks at night… hopefully. I have a feeling that we may skip the fireworks and just go home like the homebodies we are but we shall see… If we do skip the fireworks I’m demanding we go one night to Disneyland cause I really think Sam will enjoy it!!

AFM (as for me – for all your Internet abbreviation noobs – ok, I just figured out what that meant the other week too…) – I’m pretty boring actually. I wanted to join 24 Hour Fitness again but found out that kid care started at 6 months so I have to wait a bit. My goal is to loose 5lbs this month, I think I can do it. I bought some Coke Cherry Zero and will have to start drinking that during the day instead of my loverly fountain drinks… I think I will do a switch off days thing for the next week or two. And cut back on my sweets. I have already been doing that a bit. I’ve been loosing about 1/2lb a week but I want to move it up a bit. I feel really huge wearing my comfy maternity jeans and I refuse to buy bigger sizes of regular clothes!!! I have more to loose to get back to normal and MUCH more to loose to get to where I actually should be… but that’s ok.

Hi Kristi! So Lily had a very flat head mostly from being born so early and also, like Griffin she favored one side more than the other. We found a little pillow wedge thing, I think at target or babies r us, anyways it’s made of that memory foam stuff, it seemed to work pretty well. We didn’t get it for her soon enough so her head is still a little flat, but since she has long hair you can’t tell. But if she were to shave her head in some sort of rebellion when she is a teenager then you could tell. Anyways my point to this ramble is maybe try the pillow with baby g, it might work.

ha the tapping finger thing is SO Justin! 🙂

Aladdin – we recently got it, my fave too! I can so tune those movies out. Nick is the same way when the kids are both freaking out and I’m like, “what… is something wrong” haha.
