On Saturday we spent a great day down at the boat/marina/beach in Newport Beach. We had so much fun! We first spent the morning hanging out at home. Then, we put Sammie down for a nap around 11am. She proceeded to hang out in her crib, chat, and kick the sides for about 40 minutes. She was actually quiet though. Then, she slept for an hour and a half.
When she got up she had lunch and then we packed her in the car with some juice and headed down! We arrived to an empty boat but Mom, John, and Katie soon showed up after kayaking. Justin, Mom, and I decided to walk under the bridge to the swim lake and play in the sand with Sam.
Sam *hated* the sand a few weeks ago. Refused to walk on it! We brought a towel this time with some sand toys. After awhile she was having a great time throwing the sand. Which was incredibly fun! Not! hehe – Actually, I think all the adults had more fun than Sam building the sand castle and arguing about how the walls should be constructed, if there should be buildings attached, and where the moat should be. The pictures (link below) shows how Sam first was sitting on the towel and then slowly moved to the sand and got really really dirty. She loved playing with the water (of course) so one of us had to be in charge of the bucket and get more water to make wet dirt.
Here are some cute pictures from Mom’s camera.
After that, we hosed her off and went in the duffy boat for a harbour ride. We got a life jacket that fit her (kind of) and she thought it was the funniest thing for awhile. Then, she got tired of it. So we headed back. We then spent about two hours climbing over everything on the boat. Which was hilarious. Once she mastered climbing up and down one set of steps, she did it about 20 times. Then moved on to another set of steps. Then came down to the main interior area to dance around with everyone (radio was on) then went climbing again. Considering we have 6 different set of steps around the boat, she had tons of fun! There is the funniest picture of her peering over the end door to the boat that led down to the back of the boat (to get off) where she is looking down at people. She was really having a blast running around.
We had dinner with everyone and then hightailed it back home while experimenting with giving her the bottle in the car seat. We had to keep a close eye to make sure she didn’t turn it upside down and watch the milk pour out. She really loves doing that. It’s so irritating too. 🙂 But fun to watch, I think! Drip drip dripping out to make a puddle. hee – Just notsomuch to clean up.
Had a much needed bath… and then off to bed. I stayed up until midnight finishing my book because I ASSUMED that I had until 730 to sleep till. Instead Sam, I’m sad to report, woke up at 1245 for 15 minutes and a full bottle, and then woke back up at 6am. We must have jinxed something. I swear to god, we are just NOT ALLOWED to talk about her sleeping habits. Cause anytime we do (and express happiness about them) it always stops. Of course Justin didn’t remember the midnight waking. Sadly.
Today we hung out at home, took a morning walk, Justin went with Sam to the park while I walked the groceries home, had a nap (Sam, not I – sadly) and then Grandma Sharon and Grandpa Truck came over and picked her up! We saw Transformers. Hee! Cute summer movie. Josh Durmel (sp?) from Las Vegas and Fergies boyfriend is so cute! I hope we see him when we go watch Fergie in two weeks. 🙂 Cause that would be simply awesome. The preview for the new JJ Abrams movie out in January looked SO GOOD. They didn’t even tell the name of the movie. If that is an advertising ploy then it is a pretty good one. Cause it led me to look it up! So, it totally is an advertising ploy and as someone already written, pretty darn genius!!! Apparently the code name is Cloverfield. Lots of other people seemed to like it to. It looked a TINY bit silly, well it has the potential to be silly, but hopefully it won’t be! And I must say, I love seeing Bad Robot! (Erg, arg!) Going on the new release theme, Harry Potter movie next week!! Getting horrible reviews and I won’t be able to see it next weekend, boo. Still. Then the BOOK comes out! Since bad people have FLAKED on me to go to the midnight party I will be picking it up at 10am on Saturday morning. 🙂 Yea!
So, back to Sunday. Grocery shopping then. We had hot dogs for dinner. Sam actually really likes hot dogs. I’m not surprised by this, I’m just kicking myself for not giving them to her earlier. I think she loves to dip them in ketchup more though. But she nearly ate the whole thing. Is it sad that I wish I was pregnant so I could buy Oreos and feel (sort of) justified in eating the whole package? Oreos looked really tasty tonight. MmmmMMmmmm – I need more things to feed Sam. I need to stop giving her 32oz of milk each day. Hmm.
So tired. 🙂 Hope everyone’s weekend was fantabulous!
