Going with the thought about how smart my child is…
We went to Gymboree this morning even though she was a basketcase by 930. I wanted to go since I missed yesterday and I would like to move her naps to the afternoon and I wanted to expirament with it again. So when we got home at 11am, we went upstairs and I sat down to read a book. She threw a fit, jumped out of my lap and ran to the door telling me she wanted out. 🙂 So I figured, fine.
We played around a little, had lunch early. Then J got home so we had lunch with him and Sam played around. Then, when he was getting ready to leave at 1pm, I went upstairs with her again.
She did not want to take a nap, pushed the book out of my hands, etc. But I started singing to her and she calmed down a bit but freaked out more when I tried to read a book again. I calmly told her that it was nap time and that if she didn’t want to take a nap, she could play quietly in her crib (she has never done that, btw – lol) but she quieted down! It was like she knew exactly what I was saying! She then pointed to one of her favorite books and we read a few pages (but then she closed it) and then I tried singing to her again.
Once I put her in her crib, she threw herself down and started crying again…but I rubbed her back and told her it was naptime for a few minutes. She then stopped and I walked outside with the usual ‘goodnight’ stuff I say.
It’s so cool though! I feel like she really understands me. 🙂 She is still sleeping and I will get her up in a half hour if she hasn’t gotten up yet.
