Our September Book Pick was “This is Not a Test” by Courtney Summers. A most excellent read (I say, anyway) and I’m posting the polls here so we don’t clutter up our Facebook page, or ruin it for anyone who didn’t get a chance to read it.
Some general questions for the group (answer in FB!).
Who did you relate to most in the book during what would be a frightening time?
How did you feel about Trace? Did he seem realistic to you, to hold on to his grudges without considering what was going on? Were you shocked that he kicked Sloane?
Do you feel people who seem to ‘cope’ with tragedies are ‘stronger’ than people who cry all the time? I’m referring to when Grace told Sloane in the bathroom how ‘strong’ she was. Yet, we as the readers, just see her completely falling apart and barely holding it together.
Did you think Cary was right in his decision to let someone get ‘eaten’ in the alley? Did you feel sympathetic toward him, or Trace, more?
What other books compare to this one?
What did you like best about Sloane?
Here are some poll questions! Let’s start with an easy one.
What about the ending?
Holy cow, Nick Baxter was pretty crazy, right? What would you have done?
Nick and Roger were pretty close, what did you think about them?
How do you think Nick Baxter was infected?
Nick Baxter was pretty darn vindictive. What do you think…
Wow, what about Cary? He was a pretty polarizing character.
What do you think about Cary and Trace? Was Cary right for taking the lead and trying to help for the greater good? Or was Trace right for being on the moral side, telling the truth, and trying to protect the whole group?
What about when Sloane was outside with Rhys?
Out of all those characters…
