Yes, it’s January now and Sam’s room still isn’t done. LOL – Oh well. With her midnight wakings I’m not sure I want her in a stupid bed anyway. Blah.
So, I had our handyguys over to do a whole bunch of things to the house and in the process had them do a primer coat. Since I was planning on doing dark teal on the bottom and light teal on the top, the guys at Home Depot said I should tint my white primer with just a little teal color. So that is what I did! I told them the color I wanted and they just did 25% of it in the white. Except the blue turned out REALLY dark (for a primer!) so I was thinking we would just leave that color for the top and still do the bottom dark teal with the border of polka dots.
At this point, the lady I found who does hand painted furniture and who said she could do it for me stopped calling me back. 🙂 She said she had four tables due this week and I talked to her before Christmas. I called her back before Xmas to request a price, cause I forgot, and she never called me back. I’ve called her twice this week now and no return call. *sigh* Plus, Justin kept saying, why do we need a darker color on the bottom? Why can’t we just have this color? She likes this color.
She DOES like this color. She loves the blue room. I think she loves running down the hall and jumping on the mattress more but she loves the blue color. LOL – Plus, I just got her comforter and accent pillows in the mail and the purple comforter is NOT a rich dark purple like it looks in the catalog and website. Go and compare those colors! Gah!
Anyway, it’s not that bad, right? I still have time to return it, I suppose. But it’s really soft. The pink is also really pastel but the teal is right on. So I think I will keep the comforter.
After looking at those colors above for a few days and enduring Justin’s nagging about leaving the color alone… I was thinking it might be best to just leave it one color. If we did do two colors then the polka dots would HAVE to be over lapping. because how would the two colors meet? The polka dots would have to be the border between them. And I was thinking how strict it would be with the polka dots overlapping and how friendly it might be with polka dots floating around in a border but not really touching each other.
I really do over anaylze this stuff, huh? For someone who is not artistic! haha! It’s kind of funny cause the rest of my house is NOT decorated at all.
So here was the orginal idea, in my head, out to Photoshop and posted here. LOL – I just did this now to conceptualize it. And I think it looks really bad. But I suck at this stuff anyway. Eww, the picture is pixelated but I had five colors. Pink, purple, green, and then orange and yellow for accent smaller polka dots. I was thinking two different sizes. The colors are off here, I’m just photoshopping it.
But if we kept it the same color then the polka dots could float around. The orange looks hidious now that I”ve seen the blue on the wall. The pink, purple, and yellow all look good though. I’d like to do green, but not the green I picked out, I need to find a different shade. Here is a thought of how it would look.
Any thoughts?? Anyone? 🙂 Any comments or suggestions are always appreciated! Once it’s done I think it will look really cute! I also got the ok to buy the nightstand and the tall dresser from Pottery barn. They will go right next to each other on the right, it will be a little crowded now that we are using our extra queen mattress instead of a smaller twin bed but it should be ok.
Once you walk in, the left side will be where the cubbies will be at. I will be painting those whatever colors I decide to do on the polka dots. Of course now they are on sale at Company Kids. LOL – Oh well. I’m thinking they will be pink, purple, yellow, and one other color. Maybe the dark teal to bring it all in? Or the same teal as the walls? I like how the catalog has it where the top and bottom are both pink and white, switched off – while the middle row has two different accent colors.
Well, that’s what I’m thinking about now. 🙂

Justin’s, well, er, um….right. The room is good all blue.
I say keep the wall all blue with polka dots far apart like on second pic.
Maybe even bigger circles to blend better with pillows from a distance proportion wise for the queen bed now. I dunno. Lets ask the other girls . May have to go back to photoshop so can see it and compare to pick 2. BRB. K. I am thinking bigger like http://images.kodakgallery.com/photos4427/5/37/71/13/71/4/471137137503_0_ALB.jpg
but maybe a lil smaller like http://images.kodakgallery.com/photos4427/5/37/71/61/76/4/476617137503_0_ALB.jpg
but I kinda like bigger. Lets ask the ladies.
Kudos on 86ing the orange. Ick. I love the yellow accent though.
Toss the green pillow and bring in more yellow!
You are so lucky. So much fun.
BTW, the purple (although definitely not the same color as on the site) is cute and goes well with the other colors anyway. Keep it. It makes me wanna snuggle.
Oh, and my opinion is go with pink and yellow dresser paint. Maybe the green or purple but wont it drown out with teal. I guess if you did a teal on as one of the bottom ones not on the end. Hope that made sense. Too tired to go back to PS, LOL 🙂
You mentioned a dark teal bringing it all together but I dont se
one in the pick. Hmm. Where else in the room will this darker teal be?
K – so those are the late night ramblings of me. Hope I helped a little. Now lets bug the girls tomorrow 🙂
PS – Forgot to mention how much I love the blue with Sam’s hair and skin tone. Its important to look good in a room. LOL. But really, it’s so relaxing and yet playful. Love it 😉
Hi Kristi! yes, my little man has turned and I am going to attribute it to accupuncture…although it could have been just plain old mother nature at work! Who cares which, no version necessary, thank God.
Hey, when we had sleep issues with Owen still at 1 yr, my pediatrician suggested a consultation with these chicks in LA: http://www.sleepyplanet.com. They do phone consultations too. We never did have to call them since a crib tent and “cry it out” solved that problem, but they are supposed to be “the” sleep experts. May be expensive, but can we really put a pricetag on sleep, I’d have paid $10,000 when I was sleep deprived!Congrats on having a boy too! One of each now, so are you finished???
